Lost Atlantis - Myth or Reality?

Plato once wrote that the lost city of Atlantis - the cradle of civilization. Was it a real city? Maybe someday we will be able to know if the science proves it. Plato was the first person who gave us the history of the city of Atlantis, somewhere around 355 BC.
In his books, he used the method of recording that is used in conversations between different people, in other words in the form of dialogue. In the story of Atlantis there is a man named Critias, he tells a story in the family that has existed for generations. Poseidon created the city of Atlantis, a miracle-city for those who have been lucky enough to see it. The city had walls and canals, fountains, hot and cold water fountains and irrigation systems for farms outside the city.

Perhaps the most interesting attraction of the city was a temple located on a hill in the city center. There in the middle, you can see a huge statue of Poseidon riding in his chariot pulled by winged horses. The whole town revolves around the worship of Poseidon, god of the sea.

The first person who believed that the city of Atlantis was more than a myth, was Ignatius Donnelly, who lived in 1800 century. He believed that the city really existed, but was destroyed in the disaster. In 1882, Donnelly published a book called "Atlantis, flooding the world." In it, he argues that the city was located somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and the Atlantic civilization is what is left to flourish and all other civilizations that, through colonization places such as Egypt, civilization spreads to other parts of the world.

The only problem in this whole story is that scientifically proven inability location of the lost city of Atlantis was in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, as well as on its bottom there are too much sedimentary layers, and there has been insufficient time to fully recover the city. Since the release of this book had a lot of theories about exactly where the city was, some believe that it is in Switzerland, some Brunei, Bolivia, and even New Zealand.

There is also a man who leads a very convincing and logical arguments relating to the location of the city of Atlantis. He is K.T. Frost, a professor of history. Unlike many others, he believes that the city was close to the places mentioned by Plato. Frost said that the city of Atlantis actually refers to the Minoan civilization located on the island of Crete.

Crete was the center of the Minoan empire, with a huge navy, one of the most advanced civilizations of their time. This empire, which has been successful ... is simply disappeared as a result of the eruption of a huge volcano just ten miles away from Crete.

There will always be people who believe that the Minoan empire is the lost city of Atlantis, and those who would deny the story. Perhaps there is some truth, perhaps, the city really existed, and perhaps this is not possible, in the future, science will be able to say with confidence what to believe.
